Father's Heart

Today while I was having lunch at JCL (Jester City Limits), I saw the recap of the Phillies game from last night. Nothing really special, typical baseball game with homeruns, and a fan catching the foul ball and giving it to his daughter only to have it thrown away....wait....huh? Yep that's right. A little girl throws the ball that her dad gave down to the lower bleacher. What a shock!!!! But what was more amazing was that the father of the little girl gave her one of the most precious hug I have ever seen in my life. The family caught immediate attention and the media responded very positively with words such as "the best dad of the year", "sweet", etc. Steve Monforto and his family were even on the "Today's Show"this morning.

Normally, I would just look at these and say "awwwww" and move on with my life. But today, this gesture by Steve Monforto got me to think. I am the child, and my Father is Steve Monforto. He gives me all that are very valuable but I often ignore them or reject them in my life. These can be things we take for granted such as family, life, air, church, friends, etc. Most importantly, He gave us His one and only son Jesus Christ to die for our sin. But I often don't appreciate that FACT that I am saved because He gave up something of uncomparable value. I constantly choose to follow the way of the world and toss away God's preciously given gift.

However, God is always there to accept me for who I am rather than what I've done. Just as Steve Monforto embraced his daughter despite her actions, God always welcomes me no matter how much I am intoxicated with the world because He and I know that I am His son and He, my Father.

I have a feeling that today will be a good day. Weather is beautiful and love is everywhere. I am happy ^^

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
- John 3:16
